A Mean Woman Named Irene

I scrambled to move things in the yard that could blow and do damage. Maggie found candles and the flashlight. We went to the store to get a few supplies. Walgreen's was packed and there were items not on the shelves. Other people were doing the same.

Maggie had done this before. Hugo was mean and did his share in 1989 and Georges did his damage in 1998. She knew what to do, I just followed orders. I have never done this before.

Hurricanes can do some major damage.

Irene was on her way and we had to prepare. We prayed; the most important thing we could do, after all God controls all. We asked His protection.

I had been through tornadoes, but never a hurricane. The best part about this is: I am with the woman I love.

As I write this hub, the tail of Irene is still slapping us. We are waterlogged; there are trees down everywhere. There are mudslides and there have been some people hurt and killed. Many are displaced from their homes. Why do these things happen?

Could it be that God wants us to quit worshiping our home, cars, televisions, and computers? Could it be a wake up call?

I have watched many people calling out for God the last few days. I have also heard people angry that the have no electric. They have no internet or satellite t.v.

Maggie and I have made it through Irene, but the Eastern United States better prepare. This mean woman is headed your way. My understanding is it hit North Carolina and is making its way up.

Things are back to being somewhat normal. We have electricity again and water.

There are many who lost their cars and even one friend of Maggie's lost her home. It was swept away by flooding.
