America's Political Parties and Their Views
82Freedom of Politics
This hub is being made to describe all of America's political parties.
America is not just Democrat and Republican. I will explain the differences in all.
Scroll down and learn about the political parties of the United States of America.
The Top Two
Republican
It is considered the Grand Old Party; or GOP. They were founded in 1854 and are considered conservative. Most believe in supply-side economics.
They are also based on social conservatism which to put simply is: Enforcing traditional values to keep the population in line. You can see this in examples such as abortion and gun rights.
It is between Newt Gingrich, Mitt Romney and Ron Paul for 2012
Democrat
They are the oldest party in the United States. They have always been viewed as liberal.
Early on they were known for supporting the farmers, laborers, unions, etc...
Lately they have taken on a socially progressive stand. They advocate social freedoms, affirmative action, and free enterprise tempered slightly by government interaction.
Barak Obama and Joe Biden are the candidates for 2012.
The Big Three
Constitution Party
I would call this party ultra-conservative. They are pro-life, anti gun control, anti tax, anti immigration, anti new-world order, anti United nation.
Howard Phillips founded the party in 1992.
Robby Wells is the candidate for the Constitution party in 2012.
Green Party
This party has grown and grown. Considered a very "save our planet" party. They are considered very far left.
The party is very well known since Ralph Nader joined their ranks.
The candidates this year for the Green party are Kent Mesplay and Jill Stein.
Libertarian Party
Started in 1971, Libertarians are neither left nor right.
They stand for all out individual rights. They are pro-choice, pro-gay marriage, pro-home schooling, anti-gun control, etc...
The Libertarian candidates this year is RJ Harris.

Awesome thing is that Barr is second on your poll. I hope he keeps gaining supporters. Unfortunately it seems people are still buying into the Manchurian candidate.
How hard is it to learn that it's BaraCk not Barak Obama. He's been all over TV, the internet, newspapers and anywhere else you look for about a year now and you still get his name wrong?!?!
One correction - you said that the Constitution Party is anti-immigration. This is not true. We are opposed to illegal immigration, but supportive of limited, regulated immigration - like the US policy was in the past.
Thanks for spreading the word about the other parties and not just Democrat and Republican. If everybody took the time to learn about the parties through posts like yours then there would be more understanding of who and what you're voting for instead of people voting for Presidents for their charisma.
Wow, no bias at all in any of those descriptions...
...............
A good starting point for those who want to learn. I know it has been here for awhile, but I have not been so I wanted offer a good job.
The only exception I take is saying that republicans enforce traditional values to keep the population in line. Keep them in line? lol. How terribly false. If you want to put it that way you can also frame a statement about the democrats being a party that through affirmative action and numerious social programs, wishes to keep the population beholden to the government. Of course the dems stranglehold business with tons of ridiculous regulation—limiting success and giving the fruits of one's labors to those who produce less effort is a benchmark of the democratic party.
Republicans are small government, free enterprise, pro-life, do not support gay marriage nor gays in the military, among other things.
Of course, there are divisions within any party. I am, for example, for globalization but also a protectionist in that I believe that globalization only works when both sides benefit. Currently only the other side benefits and as a result we've given away a ton of our jobs.
Other than that, I would have to say I agree mostly with your analysis.
In any event, I hope you'll pardon my bias.
This is great.. I thought also that Political Parties are compose of only 4 anyway this is a nice hub showing their different views as well...
Froggy nice job I had not heard of some of thesebut I trust you that they exist- although if a tree falls on a political party in the woods and no one is there to hear it are they really a political party?
nice job on being unbiased!! I could not ave done this I would have given them nicknames....good job

Check out Congressional Progressive Caucus for a different view of what some parties stand for in today's government. To understand who, what and why regarding the modern day progressives in our Government go to Google and check Congressional Progressive Caucus. There are many articles exposing members of congress who are in the progressive caucus. One may be surprised as to what is occurring in our government today under President Barak Obama and the leadership of Senator Reid and Speaker Pelosi. The question remains for the citizens of the United States, do we want a Socialist or Marxist type of government.
With the recent signing of legislation, Healthcare Reform, Financial Reform, taking over of the student loan program, ownership in the auto industry and Fannie and Freddie, the government controls 60% of the economy. America needs to wake up and speak out if we the people reject the transformation of our government as we know it today.

A call to action today 10/5/10 to all hubbers looking for the truth.
Mr. Goosly explained President Barak Obama's position on the George W. Bush
tax cuts on foxnews.com on the Glen Beck's show.
A program worth NOT MISSING about the TAX debate.
Thanks for the links, many parties I was unaware of. I guess now I may broaden my horizons!
Froggy, good hub. I'm finding it years after you wrote it but a very good non bias view of the different parties. Kudos.
Wow! I love most of your hubs, but how can anyone say you are unbiased in this hub? Early on the Democrats supported farmers and labor? The truth is that early on they fought extremely hard to keep slavery LEGAL and bashed Lincoln terribly for his views on that issue. So no they were not advocates for labor rights until big labor started giving out a lot of cash!
Next, the Democrats support the rights of the people while the republicans are the ones who try to keep the public in line? I can't understand this hub at all, and I have giving dozens of historical talks publicly. i was also a leader of a historical organization and I must say that I like you as a writer, but this hub is quite misleading.
I agree with Mike
IN addition, neither of the democrats or the republicans have been beneficial for a Congress that benefitted the people.
Today is an example of how the two parties have worked against each other to sabotage Prosperity and the reputation of this country.
It's a nice hub on political parties in America.Read my hub also. Thanks.

On Jan 5,2011 the 112th Congress convened with the Senate controlled by the Democrats and the House controlled by the newly elected Republicans under the leadership of President Barak ‘’I ‘’ Obama. In the House on the first day the Constitution of the United States was read aloud with many of the members reading a portion of the document. The document is the foundation of our Republic.
Let us hope and pray that this Congress will listen to the will of the people and perform for the good of the people, honestly and fairly to all legal citizens.
helpfull topic thx for the time :-D
Thanks for this information. I am 14 years old and have been discovering the different political parties in hopes of finding one that fits my beliefs. I have yet to find one as it seems that they are either too liberal or too conservative, which greatly upsets me. People need to realize that you don't have to vote for the republican or democrat candidate, that there are other views out there, however in my case, I cannot find a specific party to fit my specific views which include:
The government's top prioroty should be education.
All races religions and genders are equivalent and should be treated as so.
Gays are allowed to get married.
Women are allowed to have abortions if they can prove they were raped or have medical issues.
Illegal aliens need to be deported and the only type of immigration that should be supported is legal. If a child is born here but the parents are illegal then the child can stay here with a foster family or must move back to their country with their family.
Taxes should be a flat tax of 10-11% for EVERYONE.
Drugs should be completely illegal.
Guns should only be allowed through an extremely thorough background check.
I don't really know too much about healthcare so I won't go there, but with the bill that they have in Congress there are so many earmarks that the bill doesn't even make sense any more. This is why earmarks should be illegal.
These are my views and since I am only 14 and do not really understand the ways of the world then my views might change as I get older, however based on my views that I have given, what political party do I belong to? Also if someone doesn't mind, would you explain to me exactly what a fair tax is. Thank you!!!

JUST ANOTHER VIEW FOR YOUNG ONE
Eye opening background information on Libya on Fox Cable today .We all heard about Glen Beck and his red phone connection to the Whitehouse. The story behind the scenes about George Soros, Cass Sunstein, Samantha Powers and Barak Obama's NPR group.
Catch it this week, you will understand what is happening in Libya and the middle east.
It would be nice if more parties had a real chance at the elections. Unfortunately Americans tend to think they cannot instigate change. It is our responsibility to over through the government when it gets corrupt. Perhaps after a few more years and we are unable to feed ourselves we will take up that responsibility. Politicians need to stop trying to protect their personal interests and start thinking about what is best for the US. This means diversifying the house and senate (and presidency) from 2 parties (with one independent) to a variety of party members, so the parties cannot hold the country as ransom like the republicans did. (Not saying democrats would not try the same thing in some cases).
Steve
The first 2 years of the Obama administration the Democrats had a super majority of both Houses ( the House and the Senate ) plus the Presidency. Prior to 2009 the Democrats controlled both houses under the last 2 years of the Bush administration ,2007 AND 2008.
THE REPUBICANS HAD NO INPUT INTO MAKING LAW FROM NOV.2007 TO NOV.2010.THE STORY GOES ON AND ON.
This HUB is astonishingly revealing. I plan to write a HUB about U.S. political parties as well. Of course, my HUB will be outdated because it's based on my memory of "the way we were" and I used an old lexicon as a research reference. When I'm done confusing everyone with non-facts, I'm going to refer the readers to your HUB to get the straight talk. This HUB and comments reflect serious thought. I didn't take the poll because I don't vote. Proof positive that this country carries on without my input.
Steve
'' so the parties cannot hold the country as ransom like the republicans did. (Not saying democrats would not try the same thing in some cases).''
Just a thought about Senator ( Republican ) Coburn trying to move the country in the right direction.

Interesting. I didn't know there were so many political parties in the U.S. I knew of only four. What prevents more of them becoming a major force on the political arena I wonder? I did check out the light party site. Pretty psychedelic.
