Can Light Come From Darkness?

64

By Froggy213

A sensible man will remember that the eyes may be confused in two ways - by a change from light to darkness or from darkness to light; and he will recognize that the same thing happens to the soul. ~Plato

I have been in deep contemplation as of late. Sometimes my mind reaches into some vast realms that make me wonder if others have similar thoughts. I wonder:

  • Could we have light if there was no darkness?
  • Would there be day without night.
  • Can there be good without having bad?

I recently wrote a hub on a religion that has been practiced here in the Caribbean for quite some time; it is called Santeria. This religion claims good but deep down all I see is evil from it. I have had a person commenting hate for myself and others on that hub. This person claims he/she is a Santero and some of my friends and family show some fear and concern for my safety. I, however, look at this all in a slightly different way. I believe it is the way Jesus taught me.

I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.

As I photographed the darkness; the moon and some of the shining lights in the darkness last night, I prayed. I felt the Holy Spirit telling me to not worry and to lift those who don't understand up to God.

These are the pictures I took and after will be what I must say:

No Light Without Darkness

Our weak, feeble minds would not be able to understand the light or enjoy it if we did not have darkness.

I don't actually think we would know what good is without evil. Does this mean we should not fight evil? God forbid; of course we should!

But How?

It is very simple; prayer and fasting.

I, unlike many others, understand those who are living in darkness. I did for years. I denied the Savior and played with all forms of evil. I knew nothing but darkness and then a light shined. A great and glorious light. A light much brighter than the light I photographed this morning:

Quotes About The Light of Jesus

He changed sunset into sunrise. ~Clement of Alexandria

I have read in Plato and Cicero sayings that are very wise and very beautiful; but I never read in either of them: "Come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden." ~St Augustine

When Jesus comes, the shadows depart. ~Author unknown, inscription on a Scottish castle

The dying Jesus is the evidence of God's anger toward sin; but the living Jesus is the proof of God's love and forgiveness. ~Lorenz Eifert

Glorious Light

The light that took away my darkness also dispels all fear. That light came upon me in His perfect timing, not a second early, nor a second late.

The light was brought upon me through prayers of many and tears of some.

This is what I have my faith on-this glorious light.

You too can have that light. You can dispel the darkness and be wrapped in that light. The light that keeps me from fearing man's devices and Satan's perverted thoughts. The light that urges me to pray for those who are still in darkness and sin.

We all will have that chance to accept this beautiful light or we can live in darkness forever.

I know there is one who will read this that is ready to be in the light; so I will explain how.

First, get a Bible and there are three verses you should read all in Romans:

Romans 3:23; everyone it says; everyone.

Romans 5:28; Jesus for all; yes all.

Romans 6:23; a free gift; yes it is free.

Now it is time; pray:

Father God, I am a sinner and I come to You asking mercy. I now understand that You sent Your Son as the perfect sacrifice to cleanse me. I claim this gift You have given me and I ask to be washed clean and to be born again in Your Love. I praise You and I worship Your holiness. Please set me free from the shackles and bonds that grip me and show me Your ways. I pray this in the name of Your precious Son, my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Amen.

Now read your Bible daily, even more than twice. Get involved with others who have the Light and watch the darkness go away.

I am not saying it will be easy. Satan will be mad and will not want you in the light. Just know that eternity can be light or it can be dark. If temptations to sin or problems arise, ask for prayer. Ask from those you know, even message me and I will pray.

It's all worth it; I know!

Actually or metaphorically? Actually, light cannot escape the 'darkness' of some black holes *(in outerspace)....the gravitational pull is far too great. There is speculation that there are very large and incredibly miniscule black holes 'out in space,' and, perhaps; all around us...at the moment; there are quantum scientists exploring ways in which to create the infintesimally small black holes in laboratories; to prove their existence ( it is theorized that they DO exist based on observed bahavior in their immediate environment)...

Figuratively: well, of course there can be light drawn out of the darkness..an idea; for instance..a realization; the act of freeing oneself...the list is almost endless. The balance of nature appears to demand total opposites so...yes, day/night...good/bad..etc. Most of the philosophical definitions of evil/goodness are our own concepts..we are the 'creator' of such ideas. i believe nature seeks a balance..so; in order for one to exist; it's polar opposite must, also, exist.

Spiritually...anything is possible, in my opinion and; most likely; we'll have no idea about these possibilities until after we exit this level of existence.

So..to answer; YES. and NO.

Froggy213, what a beautiful hub! I sincerely believe that we learn to appreciate light through darkness. I have learned to appreciate and see countless little 'miracles' that happen around me daily - things folks with normal, full lives often don't even notice. My faith is a constant guiding light and source of hope. What a privilege to have that, no matter what darkness a day might bring. In the end it is also about a conscious choice to look for the light in darkness. To be willing and open to learn from darkness. Thanks for sharing this with all of us Hubbers.

Light is a descriptive label for a process. Dark is a descriptive label for a process. Within each process lies the same substances with different patterns. The metaphors and internal processes are too made of the same substance. If it is God you call this substance then that is what it is. Any written word fails to describe what it is. We can only have a relationship with it.
