Rules of the Road

Here lately I have noticed a lot of "bad" drivers.

I am making this hub to pass along some very simple rules of the road. Hopefully the driver's that need to will read this.

If you have any questions, it would be best to contact the Department of Motor Vehicles in the State you live in.

The basic rules I am putting here I believe will work in all States.

Please scroll down and recall some of the basic rules.

Common Rules

What I am listing here are basic rules that I see broke every day.

1- Don't follow too close--I maintain at least two car lengths;more the faster the traffic.

2- You are NOT supposed to turn left over a double yellow line. I see this happening all the time.

3- Don't drive or pass in turning lanes. It is very dangerous.

4- Fasten children in car seats. This should be #1 but I am putting these in no particular order.

5- When approaching a four-way stop. Vehicle there first goes, and then each vehicle from that one's right.

6- Wear your seatbelts.

7- Use turn signals. I usually use mine about one-half block before my turn. Always use them when switching lanes.

8- Don't just use your mirrors to switch lanes. Turn your head and look. There is always a blind spot. Motorcyclists will love you for it.

9- Pull to the right and STOP when emergency vehicles are coming with lights and sirens.

10- Pull over and stop for funeral processions. It is respect and it's against the law to keep going.

11- Pedestrians and bicycles ALWAYS have the right-of-way. Give them a break.

These are some of the main rules I see broke every day.

I must also say that talking on cellphones and driving can be very dangerous too.

Remember, Speed Kills. Leave just a bit earlier, slow down. It would be very hard on you if you were to hit a child or kill someone.

Lets all try to be just a bit more courteous to our fellow drivers.

I know some of you will come up with some other rules; please post them in the comments. I will approve them as soon as I can.

Let's try to make our road's a little safer!
