Pueblos of Puerto Rico-Part 5
70The Frog and his wife, Lastheart have been traveling the highways and byways of Puerto Rico to give you a virtual tour.
Such a beautiful island located between the Atlantic Ocean to the North and the Caribbean to the South.
Many people don't have a clue what Puerto Rico is like so it is my goal to give you some ideas and just maybe you will buy a plane or cruise ticket and come on down.
If you haven't seen them, I have already penned a few hubs on this very subject:
Today I am going to write about only two Pueblos, but wow, they were fun to visit! Just wait until you see the pictures!
We had fun, ate great food and saw some wonderful sights.
We even grabbed a couple plants near the roadside to add to our collection here at home. The sights and drive was so much fun, I can't wait for the next one.
The map below shows directions to our next two Pueblos.Scroll down and learn more about Puerto Rico.

Patillas
We took our drive South on #181. It was just a serene drive; just my love and I. I didn't have thoughts of pictures for a hub until Maggie asked me what pueblos I already had. She told me that where we were, I could probably get another two or three pueblos.
I have decided to keep this one at two as I want to show you enlarged pictures. I was amazed at the beauty we had come upon.
We spotted a rather large lake that is in the pueblo of Patillas. It is beautiful! The pictures at the right is the flag, the Catholic church and the Alcadilla. Pictures below are some of Patillas other beauty.
Patillas was founded in 1811. It is located in Southeast Puerto Rico.
Patillas' nickname is "La Esmeralda del Sur" or The Emerald of the South.
Sugarcane is plentiful in Patillas and on driving thru we stopped at a roadside stand that sold a wonderful drink. It is called Guarapo De Caña and is made with sugar cane. I have a picture below of the boy that sold me some and his machine that made it.
Patillas covers 59.3 square miles and the mayor is Benjamin "Benji" Cintron Lebron (PNP)
Patillas has 17 distinct barrios; they are:
- Apeadero
- Bajos

- Jacaboa
- Jagual
- Los Pollos
- Los Ríos

Maunabo
Driving from Patillas to Maunabo is breathtaking. The ocean views are magnificent! You will be able to see pictures below.
We entered the tunnel that was made right through a mountain. It's kind of freaky wondering if the mountain could fall on you.
Maunabo's nickname is "La Ciudad Tranquila" or The City of Tranquility and I can see why. Just looking at the Catholic church in the town square made me tranquil.
Maunabo was founded in 1799 and has a beautiful lighthouse at one point near the ocean.
Maunabo covers 27.9 square miles and the mayor is Jorge L. Márquez Pérez (PPD).
Maunabo has 10 distinct barrios which are:
- Calzada
- Emajagua
- Lizas
- Matuyas Alto
- Tumbao
- Matuyas Bajo
- Palo Seco
- El Pueblo
- Quebrada Arenas
- Talante

Conclusion
Hope you enjoyed this virtual tour of Puerto Rico with Froggy and his wife Maggie.
We are enjoying doing this and we would love to see you all visit this great island.
With that I will leave you with some traditional music from the island to set the mood.
Que Dios los bendiga a todos!

Outstanding pictures, Froggy, outstanding! You should get a commission for dumming up tourism, but here is my question. If I buy the plane ticket, are you buying the coffee?

Your photos are beautiful; just like a post card. I have not been to this part of Puerto Rico. I really need to spend more time exploring PR. Maybe next winter when I hope to return for 3 months. I want to escape the winter months back home. I voted this Hub UP.
