Romantic Walk In San Juan

No matter when, where or why, there is always time for romance.

The love of my life had finished her day of teaching children of all walks of life. Being a special education teacher can be quite stressful as I have seen.

I picked her up at the school; the school with miles and miles of stairs that the beautiful woman I love has to climb up and down multiple times daily. It's no wonder she is in as good as shape as she is in.

I saw the tinges of stress written in her eyes. With a kiss and hug, I proceeded to drive to our usual get-away. Pulling up to the drive thru window, I again practiced my terrible rendition of Spanish that more than likely has the workers at Dunkin Donuts laughing when we leave. "Dos expresso y dos donuts; chocolate con strawberry" I state into the speaker. "Azúcar?" the person asks. I say "si, ocho regular". All in all, that is two coffee and two strawberry filled chocolate donuts with eight regular sugars; four apiece for our coffee. Yea! I pulled it off with no help from Maggie. She giggles with the pride I feel.

As we sit in peace drinking and eating and looking at the pigeons we contemplate what to do. I look at her beautiful eyes and tell her I want to walk hand in hand with her. "Lets go to San Juan" Maggie blurts out. I start the car with a smile and start my weaving in and through the maze of cars. I have learned to drive Puerto Rican style with the best of them.

We reach the streets of old San Juan and spend 1/2 hour trying to find a parking spot.

Love Walk

Finally, near the Fort San Felipe del Morro I was able to back into a small spot. We grabbed each others hands and the camera and started our love walk.

Romance does not have to be expensive. This bit of romance only cost some gasoline and energy.

We noticed there were police and people everywhere. Yep, a cruise ship had docked and the tourists were roaming. Maggie and I were asked by one gentleman to take his picture in front of a statue and he assumed we were from the cruise ship too. He probably thought it was a love cruise for us and when we told him we lived here, he had a grin a mile wide, noticing the love we had for each other.

We strolled and took pictures. We hugged and kissed and enjoyed the peacefulness of those out-of-the-way spots the tourists hadn't discovered.

Here are some of the pictures we took:

Love Is

We walked and walked arm in arm.

I felt peace and love.

We talked, we kissed.

This had to be documented. I set the timer on the camera and we found that "perfect" spot.

Not Done Yet

We got back in the car. A man was blocking the parking spots and Maggie asked him why. They are filming a movie here tomorrow he stated and he had to block for the film crew.

I felt we had made our own romantic movie. I looked at her and saw the love deep in her soul.

I felt those similar pangs in my stomach much like the first day I had stepped off that jet into her loving arms.

We wasn't done yet. "Let's stop here" Maggie pointed to a park. Hand in hand, we strolled more. I felt little cupids flying around us as we walked throughout the beautiful park just a hop and skip from old San Juan where we just left.

More pictures so you all can feel the peace and love we felt:

Love Upon Love

I really don't know what I would do without this wonderful wife I love.

She knows how to warm my heart.

Her love radiates even when times are difficult.

I just have to yell

MARIA MAGDALENA RUIZ O'FARRILL----- I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!

Conclusion

Romance can be had and made anywhere.

It doesn't and shouldn't have to cost a lot of money.

Romance is a dire need of all people.

Grab that person you love and hold them; walk with them and talk with them.

Tell them the love you have for them. Don't wait:

TODAY IS THE DAY!
